Mangaluru: St Agnes CBSE school organises Annual Sports Meet

Mangaluru, Nov 24: On November 19 St Agnes CBSE school organised the Annual Sports day at St Agnes Special School ground. The invited guests and the parents witnessed the spectacular performance of the students from dedication to perfection as they gave their best.

The esteemed dignitaries for the sports meet inaugural were Col Nitteguthu Sharath Bhandary as the chief guest who is the president All Karnataka Rubber Planters Association former president of DK districy Ex Serviceman’s Association, Dr Kumar Nayak president School Welfare Committee, Sr Dr Lydia Fernandes AC the joint secretary of the Institutions, Sr Edna Furtado AC the administrator, Sr Maria Gracilda AC the principal. A grandeur escort was given to them by the spectacular school band to the venue.

The programme began with melodious opening chorus from the students of grade VI to X singing to the tune of ‘We are unity’ followed by warm words of welcome by vice principal Sr Lenita Lobo AC.

Then came the spectacular moment of the March Past by students of grade VII to X marching with theme of ‘Five Elements of Nature’. Each class marched with coordination and perfection led by the Captain and Flag bearer. The teams were introduced to the chief guest led by the head girl Anya D’Souza.

The inaugural of the sports meet was a spectacular moment with the chief guest doing the honours and raising the flag followed by sports minister Shrestha Srinivas reciting the oath followed by declaring the sports meet.

The students of grade VI and VII were awarded with various trophies and medals for their excellent performance in various sports events.

The chief guest in his speech congratulated all the students for their spectacular performance. He specially appreciated the school band team for their perfection and grace. Encouraged every student to join the military and provide service to nation. Also stressed the importance of sports and fitness which is the essence of a healthy body.

Sr Dr Lydia Fernandes AC also congratulated all students for their excellent performance. She urged every student to showcase their talents in sports and excel in it. Her words of wisdom brought out an inspiration to the students as they cheered with acknowledgment.

The final matches were held to the teams and thereafter with lowering the flag the morning programme was brought to a closure.

The programme was compered by teachers Raina and Kirthi, vote of thanks was proposed by Sr Sweedal Fernandes AC thanking everyone for their sportive participation.
