Mangalore, May 12: Shabbir (10), a fifth standard student of government higher primary school in Krishnapur seventh block near Suratkal, and son of Basheer, was killed after the wheels of a tipper moved over him. The boy was playing in a residential area next to his house, when the killer tipper loaded with sand approached him.

The boy was playing with other neighbouring children at the time. He was the eldest of the five children of Basheer, who works as a labourer.

The tipper driver continued to drive the vehicle till its nearby destination, emptied the sand, gave information about the accident to a neighbouring tipper driver, and fled, even as the body of the boy lay unattended on the narrow road.

The local people, angered over the incident, damaged both the tippers by pelting stones at them.
