Kasargod, May 12: Akbar (32), son of Salam from Panattor, and residing Kanhangad Kolavayal, who was an activist of the National Democratic Front, died on Tuesday May 10. He was injured after being stabbed by a gang some time back, and was being treated in a hospital in Mangalore.
A friction had occurred between the activists of BJP and CPM at Ambalattara on May 2. Four persons were injured in this incident. On the same night, Akbar was stabbed while moving about in his motor bike in this area, by a crowd.
Security has been beefed up in and around Kanhangad because of the death of Akbar. Even as the police vigil was increased, a gang that came in a motor bike damaged a private bus in Chittari before fleeing on Wednesday night. A Kerala government bus moving to Kasargod from Payyannur was also damaged by a gang which came in a motor bike at Madian Junction.
