Bengaluru, Jan 9: Expressing satisfaction that 1,61,883 out of the 1,97,060 registered eligible candidates have been distributed unemployment allowance of Rs 216.83 crore under the Yuva Nidhi guarantee, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday asked the officials to take steps to identify more eligible candidate.
Reviewing the performance of Skills, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Department at his Home Office of Krishna, he, however, expressed his dissatisfaction at the spending of barely Rs 1,235 crore out of the allocated funds of Rs 1864 crore for the Department.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to complete the works on upgradation of Government-run Industrial Training, which have completed 50 years, as Traditional Institutes for which the budgetary allocation was Rs 100 crore.
Employments are possible for the eligible candidates if they have necessary skills and the youngsters registered under the Yuva Nidhi schme must be given skills development training on priority basis.
He also urged the officials to ensure speedy implementation of the skills training for 20,000 ITI students as announced in the budget.
Indira Canteens for Women SHGs?
The Chief Minister asked the officials to submit formal proposals for running the Indira Canteens by Women’s Self-Help Groups as is being done in the coffee establishments.
Women’s participation in economic activities must be encourages in rural areas and steps for providing skills development training to women at the Grama Panchayat levels, Siddaramaiah added.
