Beltangady: Sandalwood Smuggler Held

Beltangady, May 6: The personnel of the special mobile forest squad arrested E K Sulaiman (36) on the allegation of smuggling sandalwood pieces in his car. Reportedly, he was carrying sandalwood pieces and splinters in his car from Moodigere to Beltangady, when a police team led by sub-inspector Navinchandra Jogi, intercepted his vehicle at Mundaje Seat in Beltangady.

The Maruti car the accused was driving, and sandalwood splinters and pieces found in the car, totally worth about Rs 2.05 lac, were confiscated. They were handed over to Beltnagady police for further investigation. The police team had acted on reliable information in conducting the said raid.
