Mangalore: No Pay for High School Teachers since Two Months

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, May 5: It is learnt that the teachers of aided high schools located in Dakshina Kannada district have not been paid their salaries since the last two months. Teachers of government high schools are divided into separate groups like taluk panchayat plan teachers, other than taluk panchayat plan, zilla panchayat plan teachers etc. While these teachers get salaries, the group of teachers categorized as aided high school teachers have gone without pay since the last two months.

It is learnt that one or the other segments of these teachers have been facing problems in getting their salaries on time every month. The officials responsible for disbursing salaries point fingers at their higher officials, who then pass on the onus on some other office, sub-treasury, etc.

Through a release, Ramakrishna Shirur, president of the district unit of High School Teachers Association, has urged the government officers and people’s representatives to ensure that the aided high school teachers get their salaries on the first of every month.
