Bantwal, Apr 30: “The work on the linking bridge at Baddakatte that has been limping for the past three years, will completed and opened to traffic by May 20,” said MLA Ramanath Rai.

Addressing media persons here on Friday April 29 after meeting the officials of Karnataka Road Development Corporation (KRDC), Rai said that the concrete work will be completed by Monday May 2 and another 15 days will be needed to strengthen the concrete before opening it for traffic.

“The work on Baddakatte bridge was undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs 50 lac.  It was going on at a snail’s phase for over three years.  A service road was laid temporarily which was washed away during the monsoon.  The motorists and general public were inconvenienced,” added Rai.

He instructed KRDC officials to complete the bridge ahead of the monsoon and the officials announced the proposed date for opening the bridge to the public. KRDC divisional engineer Manjunath, sub-divisional engineer Ravikiran, contractor - Gammon India project engineer Sundar, Ranganath, town council member Riyaz Hussain, and Panemangalore block Congress president Abbas Ali were present on the occasion.
