Mangaluru, Sep 29: St Aloysius Prakashana, the publication unit of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru is organizing a Book release programme on the September 30 in Eric Mathias Hall, Maffei Block. Dr K Ullas Karanth, emeritus director, Centre for Wildlife Studies, Bengaluru will be the chief guest of the programme. Dr Praveen Martis SJ, principal of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru will preside over the programme. Four books of social, cultural, academic, and environmental relevance will be released by the dignitaries.
The book, ‘PILIKULA’ written by N G Mohan, is a coffee table book that speaks extensively about Pilikula Nisargadhama the pride of Dakshina Kannada district. N G Mohan in this book has attempted to narrate the genesis and the growth of Pilikula Nisargadhama a natural habitat spread across 370 acres that is today protecting the environment, and heritage and improving tourism.
The book, ‘Flora of St Aloysius College Campus - Herbs & Shrubs’ is written by Dr Jyothi Miranda, associate professor, department of Botany. She is currently serving as the head of the same department. It is not just a coffee table book with colorful images but also a study material for the students who are interested to know about plants and is also useful for the general public who love plants. This book is written to promote awareness about these plants, which may help in the conservation of species in the days to come.
The book Public Finance is authored by Dr V Basil Hans, former associate professor of Economics. The book Public Finance is mainly written for undergraduate students to study fiscal economics in simple language. This book is the result of his research on questions on social choice and public policy. Concepts and theories have been explained in simple language. It contains model questions and question papers also.
The Konkani book ‘Kontrelantlem’ written by Molly Miranda is a translation of a Kannada autobiography ;Nagandigeyolaginda' published in the year 2019 by B M Rohini a well-known literary figure, who has authored more than 10 classic books in Kannada.
