Bangalore, Apr 26: Lambasting the B S Yeddyurappa-led State Government for ordering lathi-charge on farmers merely because they demanded timely supply of adequate quantity of quality seeds and fertilisers, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee criticised the Chief Minister for merely paying lip-sympathy to farmers.

The KPCC President Dr G Parameshwara criticised the state government for its failure in assessing the correct quantity of seeds and fertilisers in view of the good monsoon in the state.

Dr Parameshwara demanded immediate supply of fertlisers and quality seeds to ensure that the farmers did not loose their crop.

The Chief Minister B SYeddyurappa, who came to power by holding out sky-high promises to farmers, killed two of them at Haveri, who were agitating for the supply of fertilisers soon after coming to power, the KPCC chief said.

The BJP government, which boasted itself of presenting a farmers budget, failed to provide any succour to them, he added.

The government has become a curse for the people, especially the farmers, he said and warned that the farmers and people were waiting for throwing out the Government.
