Mangaluru, Sep 22: The World recognises September 22 World Rose Day- Welfare of Cancer Patients. This day has its importance because of Melinda Rose hailing from Canada who suffered this deadly disease at the age of 12. Despite her own sufferings she tried to bring hope and cheer in other patients’ life in whatever way she could to beat this deadly disease. Every year on this day in her memory, World Rose Day is commemorated.
St Agnes too recognised this day very meaningfully by paying a visit to Ave Maria Hospice Palliative Care Centre Mangaluru. The students of grade VII around 20 of them accompanied by their teachers spent a fruitful time with the six innates who are diagnosed in this centre under the care of around 17 nurses who look after the patients.
The students conducted prayer service, entertained the innates with action song and offered each one a rose. It was a joy to find a smile on each one of them despite the suffering. The school contributed a cheque of Rs 10000/- with fruits and snacks to the innates.
Some activities such as creating a paper rose, collage with articles of world cancer day, preparation of thankyou card to the service providers etc. was conducted to the students to mark the importance of the day.
The management, the administrator and the principal congratulated the teachers for conducting a meaningful event.
