Udupi, Sep 17: National Hindi Day was uniquely celebrated on September 14 at St Mary's Auditorium. Prior to the celebration a week long literary and cultural activities from September 9 to 14 were conducted for the students from Grade 1 to 10 under the title 'HINDI DARSHAN'.
The formal programme commenced with a Hindi prayer song. Manjula spoke on the cultural legacy of Hindi in India as National language. An action song and a wishing song were presented by students' choir highlighting the theme of the programme. The senior most Hindi teacher and the vice principal of the school Rita Quadros was the chief guest of this special occasion. She emphasized the widespread popularity of Hindi language across the globe and advised students to develop effective communication skills in it. Later a short Hindi skit 'Theen pathange' depicting the value of freedom was staged by students.
Principal Fr Johnson Sequeira in his presidential address stressed the influential role played by Hindi in connecting the hearts and lives of Indians. He also appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students in Hindi week activities. The winners of various competitions such as Story writing, Quiz, Word puzzles, Slogan writing, making ornaments and drawings using Hindi alphabets, Action song etc held during the 'Hindi Week' celebration were felicitated on this occasion.
Smitha announced the prize list. Nuthan extended the words of gratitude. Poornima anchored the programme.
