Recipes - Chicken Haleem
Ingredients:
½ kg. chicken
250 gms.broken wheat (Daliya)
¼ cup channa daal
¼ cup jeera rice
4 tomatoes ( finely chopped)
2 big onions ( thinly sliced)
5-7 green chillies
2 tbsp. ginger garlic paste
1 lime
4-5 cloves
2” cinnamon
4-5 cardamoms
25 gms coriander leaves
25 gms mint leaves
½ cup oil
½ tsp. turmeric powder
Coconut milk of one medium coconut.
Salt as per taste
Method:
Clean, wash and pressure cook, broken wheat, channa daal, and jeera rice until soft.
In a pan heat oil and fry half of the onion until golden brown and set aside. In the same oil add cloves, cinnamon and cardamom. Now add onion, ginger garlic paste, tomatoes, green chillies and sauté for sometime. Add chicken pieces, salt and lime juice. Add little water and cook chicken until soft. Drain the chicken pieces and debone and shred them.
Add the stock of chicken to the pressure cooked wheat mixture and stir well. Discard the bones and add the shredded chicken into the wheat mixture. Bring to a boil. Now add coconut milk, coriander leaves and mint leaves. Stir well. Serve hot, garnished with browned onion, coriander and mint leaves.
