Recipes - Mince-Potato Pie
Ingredients:
500 gms mutton / beef mince
500 gms potatoes
200 gms. mozzarella cheese ( grated)
2 cups mixed veggies ( carrots, beans, peas, capsicum)
3 tomatoes
1 onion
1 tsp. pepper powder
1 tsp. garam masala powder
½ tsp. turmeric powder
3 tsp. coriander powder
1 tsp. cumin powder
1 tsp. chilli powder
2 tsp. ginger garlic paste
1 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. maida / corn flour
¼ cup milk
1 chicken cube / stock ( diluted in some warm water)
1 tbsp. oil
1 tsp. oregano
Salt as per taste
Method:
Wash and drain mince well. Chop the veggies fine. Marinate mince, adding salt, pepper powder, garam masala powder and turmeric for about 1 hour. Pressure cook the potatoes. Pressure cook the mince for about 2-3 whistles. Mix maida or corn flour in milk and set aside.
Heat oil and fry sliced onion until soft. Add ginger garlic paste and tomatoes, continue to fry until tomatoes are soft. Add cumin powder, chillie powder and 1 tsp. of coriander powder. Stir well. Add the chopped veggies and stir fry for 2-3 mts. Add the cooked mince. Adjust salt and cook until the veggies are half done. Lastly add the milk with maida/ corn flour and stir well until it thickens.
Peel and mash the potatoes. Heat 1 tbsp. of butter and add the mashed potatoes along with the stock and 2 tsp. of coriander powder. Mix well to a smooth consistency.
Take an oven proof dish. Spread the mince-veggie mixture evenly. Layer the mashed potatoes on top. Sprinkle the cheese evenly all over. Sprinkle oregano.
Bake it in the oven for about 15-20 mts.or until the cheese crust turns slightly brown.
