Recipes - Raw Jackfruit Curry (Gujje Gasi)
Ingredients:
Small raw jackfruit - 1
Cooking oil - little
For Masala:
1 big coconut (grated coconut 2 cups)
15-16 red chillies, roasted
1 tbsp. coriander seeds, roasted
1 tsp. Jeera
½ tsp. turmeric
Tamarind - size of its seed
1 tsp. urad dhal
For seasoning:
2 tbsp. coconut oil
1 tbsp. mustard seeds
1 sprig curry leaves
1 onion
Salt to taste
Method:
Apply cooking oil to the hands and cut the jackfruit into medium pieces after removing the outer skin and inner pith. Soak in water for some time. Then wash and cook it with 8 to 10 cups water with salt to taste and jaggery. Grind all the masala ingredients together to a fine paste. Masala should not be too watery. Remove and add it to the cooked jackfruit. Boil the curry for 10-15 minutes. Season with coconut oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves and onion.
