Chicago, Apr 18 (PTI) A former Northwestern journalism student, James Foley, who was reporting for the online publication the Global Post, has been held captive by the Libyan government and has not been seen or heard for nearly two weeks, a media report has said.
Friends of 37-year-old Foley, a New Hampshire native, who attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and later moved to Chicago have launched a campaign to free him and other journalists captured with him in strife-torn Libya.
"Representatives in Washington, ambassadors ? tons of people have been reached out to," Tom Durkin, who knowns Foley was quoted as saying by the 'Chicago Times'.
Durkin last communicated with Foley in March when the reporter was in Libya.
"Anyone who has connections with anyone is trying to move this forward," Durkin added.
