Mangaluru, Sep 3: Unity Academy of Education has celebrated Onam in the college premises on Saturday September 3 amongst all the students, staff and management of the institution.

The celebration started with inaugural lamp lighting by its trustees, Ameena Rahman, Yenepoya Ajmal, Asfaq M Habeeb and the principal Dr Raja A.

The main attractions of the programme were vibrant flower carpets (Onam pookalam), thiruvathira Kali, Onam Pattu, dances and fun games.

The arrival of ‘Mahabali’ amongst beats of panchavadyam (Chanda Mela) was well received and given great enjoyment and excitement to the audiences. There were many varieties of competitions like valu Muri, Uri Adi, Vadam vazhi and many fun games were conducted and prizes were distributed to the winners.

The other attraction of the day was the traditional ‘Ona Sadhya’ that comprises 23 variety of dishes served on banana leaves. Students and teachers were dressed in their traditional ‘Ona Kkodi’ to add the festivity.
