Navi Mumbai, April 14 (IANS) Pune Warriors skipper Yuvraj Singh praised Mohnish Mishra for playing a stellar role in the team's four-wicket win over Kochi Tuskers Kerala in the Indian Premier League (IPL) here Wednesday.
Mishra struck a 21-ball 37 and along with Robin Uthappa (31) added 42 runs for the fifth wicket as Pune Warriors registered their second consecutive win in the IPL.
"Robin and Mohnish played well. We could have bowled and fielded well, but we won at the end of the day. Mohnish keeps telling me that he wants to open, but I tell him he is a good No. 6, and he is going to be at No. 6 from now on," said Yuvraj.
Mishra, Man of the Match, said batting at No.6 is a challenge for him.
"I am happy with No. 6, it is a challenge for me to bat at this position. It was tough after Robin's dismissal. I thought I would stay till the end," he said.
Asked how did he plan the attack on Muttiah Muralitharan, Mishra said: "The sweep shot is on against the off-spinner, I went for it and got it. I had not faced Murali much but watched him closely and went for it."
Uthappa was also happy with his performance.
"I did pretty well last year, hopefully, I can do even better this year. I enjoy keeping, have been moving well. Generally, I like to open the batting," he said.
