Udupi, Apr 13: “Blood donation is the greatest good deed that one can do in life. The blood camp organized by Savita Samaj has set an ideal example for other voluntary organizations to excel in social welfare activities,” said Kaup Primary Health Centre (PHC) medical officer Dr Rabindranath Bolar.
Dr Bolar was speaking at the district-level mega health camp organized under the leadership of Udupi district Savita Samaj ® in association with Udupi taluk Savita Samaj and Kaup zonal Savita Samaj by blood bank of Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, at Kaup Jaycees Bhavan, near here, on Tuesday April 12.
Sudha Bhat of the blood bank at Kasturba Hospital was the chief guest on the occasion.
She said that their hospital needs 120 to 150 units of blood every day, and commended Savita Samaj for organizing the blood camp.
Udupi district Savita Samaj president Bannanje Govind Bhandary, in his presidential address, said that it was decided to organize a zonal blood bank every month by pooling 1370 saloons in the district with the patronage of the general public.
Kaup gram panchayat president Yogish Rai, Kaup circle inspector Cheluvaraj, Savita Samaj secretary Somashekar Bhandary, journalist Rakesh Kunjoor, Karkala taluk Savita Samaj president Vishwanath Ninjoor, and Kundapur taluk Savita Samaj president Gujjady Subhash Bhandary were the chief guests on the occasion.
Savita Samaj Kaup zonal president Satish Bhandary Kaup, treasurer Prakash Bhandary Kaup, and secretary Vijay Bhandary Padubidri were also present.
Sudhakar Bhandary welcomed the gathering. Udupi taluk president Keshav Bhandary delivered the introductory address. Women’s wing member Satyapati proposed the vote of thanks. Savita Samaj taluk secretary Sadashiv Bangera Kurkalu compered the programme.
