Udupi, Aug 5: Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management Bantakal conducted a session on “Intellectual Property Right (IPR) Patents and Design Filing” on August 3. The programme was jointly organized by the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), and Entrepreneurship Development Cell of the institute in association with National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India.

An ambitious mission launched by Govt of India, intended to cover a million of students to make them aware of Intellectual Properties and it's various aspects. It includes the understanding, technical details, filing procedures, strength of the IP rights and further the working of Indian Intellectual Property Offices in these respects.

The eventual aim of this widespread mission is to nurture an environment in the country where people would be aware of their IP rights. In turn, the government wishes to see the innovative and intellectual brains of the country flourishing on a pan-India level.

The program was held in the seminar hall, SMVITM, in which the expert speaker, Sai Vaibhav, examiner of Patents and Designs, Patent Office, Chennai, discussed types of patent and the need for academicians to file patents. The speaker also raised awareness among the students about Intellectual Property. Through this program, students were exposed to various types of IPR which ignited the Intellectual thoughts thereby motivating them to innovate and further transform their innovative ideas into intellectual property.

Dr Sudharshan Rao, dean (quality assurance), department heads, faculty members, and students also attended the event and interacted with the resource person.

Arun Upadhyaya, convener of institution’s innovation council coordinated the program.

As part of the program, Akshatha Rao introduced the resource person and proposed a vote of thanks.
