Mumbai, Apr 3 (IANS): World Cup champions India have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their final against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium here Saturday.
Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was fined 20 percent of his match fee while the players were docked 10 percent.
"Match referee Jeff Crowe imposed the fine after India was ruled to be one over short of its target at the end of the match," the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement.
"The penalty was accepted by India without contest so there was no need for a hearing."
India defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets to win the World Cup after 28 years.
