Byndoor: 26-year-old dies after accidentally falling into pond

Byndoor, Jul 21: A youth died as he fell into a pond after he accidentally slipped. This incident occurred on Wednesday July 20 at Kalthodu village.

The deceased is identified as Karthik (26). According to the complaint filed by Nagendra Achari, the brother of deceased, Karthik had gone to work in the paddy field after having lunch. As he did not return for long, the family members went in search of him and found his footwear near the pond.

The fire service personnel were informed immediately. They arrived and fished out the body from the pond. It is suspected that he must have slipped on his way to the paddy field or on return.

A case in this connection is registered at Byndoor police station.

    Swimming must be taught compulsorily in all schools especially in our coastal areas ....Concerned Govt authorities a request ...please include swimming in the syllabus . A person who knows to swim cannot commit suicide by drowning..

    How come so many and so many cars fall either in the ponds/rivulet/creeks/fields etc. Yesterday one person died who went to fetch field shells. It looks like some people waited for monsoon..,???? God alone ..alone knows !! Om shanthi...

    Cynthia, if I am not mistaken this was not the case in yesteryears though the roads were so crude and in the countryside there were so many open wells used for irrigation of paddy and vegetables etc.

    Rudolf Rodrigues Mumbai,I too thought the same .Can one keep his slippers aside and fall into the Pond´?I think most probabaly he bent to reach the water to wash his feet or face ?and slipped ,and fell head over in the Pond?Only God knows the truth.May his soul rest in pece .Heartfelt sympathy to the family.

    RIP! Again Byndoor in the news for tragic and mysterious events almost every other day!! To me most of these cases appear like financial distress related suicides or murders?
