Udupi, Jul 4: The Hebri police arrested one among two siblings, who were stealing cows that were roaming on the streets, after a cinematic style here on Monday, July 4.
The nabbing operation was based on a definite tip-off regarding cattle theft at Hebri Kerebettu of Karkala taluk.
Shakil Ahmed and Akil Ahmed are the accused brothers who had inhumanely stuffed two cows in their Swift car. Police chased their car for quite a distance. While one escaped, the other one was nabbed. Unfortunately, in the melee, one cow had died as its neck had broken while it was being stuffed in the car, the other one was rescued.
The operation was carried out by SI Doddamani and team near Hebri Kerebettu Mahalingeshwara temple. It is said that Shakeel Ahmed has an illegal slaughterhouse near Hoode of Malpe. It is learnt that the brothers used to steal cows from cattle sheds also by brandishing knives during night time and scaring away the inmates of the house.
A case is registered in Hebri police station.
Illegal cow transportation in car at Kundapur: one cattle rescued, accused escape
In another case, the Gangolli police team unearthed a network that was transporting cows in ECO Sports car on the night of Saturday. However, the accused in the car managed to escape after stopping the car at a spot.
Gangolli police led by SI Vinay M Korlahalli were checking vehicles at Trasi junction. They asked a ECO Sports car driven by Danish to stop. However, Danish did not stop the car and drove away.
Police chased the car and also informed the other police team led by SI Jayashree Hunnura at Mullikatte Junction to be ready. When the car of accused reached Mullikatte, the accused did not stop the car there also and sped away.
Police continued their chasing and the accused who were speeding ahead stopped the car near Monkey Cross and escaped from the spot.
One cattle was tied in the car in an inhumane manner. Police rescued the cow and are on the lookout for the accused.
