Mumbai, Jul 4: St Peter’s association, Barkur celebrated their 32nd anniversary at Vincent Pallotti church auditorium, Andheri east on Sunday morning, July 3. Fr Dr Ivan Almeida Barkur celebrated the mass.
A hall programme held later was presided over by the association president Boniface Sequeira. Entrepreneurs Reji Carvalho, Wilfred D’ Souza Brahmavar and the silver jubilee committee president Ida Roche present as guests of honour distributed scholarships to the children of the members and congratulated them.
“A life of harmony is possible only by unity as people help each other and provide moral and monetary support when necessary. Living in isolation is not safe,” said Boniface Sequeira in his presidential address.
16th annual general body meeting of the association was held in the beginning. Former president Ivan Rebello, vice president Antony Gonsalves, secretary Eric Carvalho, joint secretary Arthur Mendonca, treasurer John Gonsalves and Wilfred Sequeira, Thimothy D’ Souza, Vincent Furtado, Antony Gonsalves and Joseph D’ Almeida were on the dais.
Office bearers for the period 2022-2026 were elected in the meeting. Boniface Sequeira was elected president, Wilfred Sequeira and Eric Carvalho were elected as vice presidents, Arthur Mendonca as secretary, Vincent Furtado as treasurer, Joseph D’ Almeida as joint secretary, Thimothy D’ Souza as internal auditor, Jolwin Furtado as PRO, Ivan Rebello, Vincent Almeida, John Gonsalves and Archibold Gonsalves were elected conveners. President Ivan Rebello handed over the charge to the new president Boniface Sequeira and conveyed his best wishes.
Association former presidents Felix Barnes, Richard Carvalho, senior members Ivan Rebello, Johnson Martis and other members paid homage to the members who passed away during the past year.
Ivan Rebello informed the activities of the association. Members presented songs and dances. Kiran R Carvalho conducted the cultural programme. Joylan Fernandes compered the programme. Arthur Mendonca welcomed and rendered a vote of thanks.
