Mangalore, Mar 21: Immediate past secretary of University Grants Commission, G D Sharma, said that the new graduates can become successful in their professional lives by engaged continuously in studies and research. He was speaking after conferring degrees at the convocation programme of Yenepoya University, organized at ‘Endurance Zone’ of the university in Deralakatte near here on Sunday March 20.
At the convocation, degrees were handed over to successful students of Yenepoya medical, dental, nursing and physiotherapy colleges. Successful post-graduate students of these colleges were also given degree certificates on this occasion.
“New inventions are taking place on a regular basis in medical field. We need to keep ourselves open to changes and changing technologies. Because of the need to keep themselves up-to-date with latest knowledge, the graduates should always aim at enriching their knowledge,” he advised.
Chancellor of the university, Y Abdulla Kunhi, who presided over the programme, said that Yenepoya University aims at imparting quality education, and that it has been providing all the basic infrastructures for the educational advancements of the students. He said that the university will in future, foray into engineering, law, and business administration fields in addition to medical education.
University registrar, Janardan Konaje, trustees, Prof Habib Rehman, B Ahmed Haji Mohiyuddin, Khalid Bawa, Javed Yenepoya, Farhad Yenepoya, Islamic Academy of Education secretary, Akhter Hussain, academic and administration director, Prof P C M Kunhi, medical college principal, Prof Gulam Jeelani Khadri, and others were present.
Yenepoya University vice-chancellor, Dr P Chandramohan, welcomed. Dr Priyankar and Dr Akshata compeered the programme.
