Mangaluru, Jun 30: University Evening College, Mangaluru, Saamarasya Vedike in collaboration with Akhila Bharathiya Sahithya Parishad, Mangaluru Taluq celebrated Kudmul Rangarao’s Birthday with a special lecture on “Harmony needs an open mind” on June 29 2022 at Ravindra Kala Bhavan of University Evening College here.
The chief spokesperson Rajesh Padmar, lecturer and social worker, Tumkur spoke about the greatness of Kudmul Rangarao in dedicating his life to the downtrodden, encouraging widow remarriage and discouraging child marriage. He appealed that a society should unite and think in unity of mind and action. Social harmony leads to brotherhood and is a social necessity. Caste should not be a barrier to social harmony. One should work with an open heart, which requires breaking our silence to speak from our heart.
The programme was presided by Dr Cha N Shankar Rao, president, District Akhila Bharathiya Sahithya Parishad who expressed that if one gets inspired today by Kudmul Rangarao, his birthday celebration of this kind would serve its purpose. Gandhiji himself was inspired by Kudmul Rangarao. To follow him, one should accept the disagreement of others and be generous and accept the thoughts and ideas of others. We are free to have our own ideals, but ideals should not clash. He explained the role of lecturers in imparting the message of this responsibility to the young minds of the society.
A book titled “Harmony needs an open mind” was released by Dr Vaman Shenoy, a famous physician. Dr. Subhashini Shrivatsa, the principal welcomed the guests and the gathering. Sudeeksha delivered a prayer song.

Akhila Bharathiya Sahithya Parishad Mangalore Division President Dr Meenakshi Ramachandra, proposed vote of thanks.
