Mangalore: Hanging Bridge Between Tannirbavi and Sultan Battery Soon

Mangalore, Mar 18: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner (DC) has instructed the Nirmiti Kendra in Suratkal to immediately begin works on building a hanging bridge between Sultan Batttery in the city to Tannirbavi, adding that grant has been received for the same. He was speaking after taking part in the progress review meeting of various works undertaken by tourism department in Dakshina Kannada district, which was held here on Thursday March 17.

The DC asked the concerned to conclude all the proposed beach development works in Panambur, Tannirbavi, and Ullal Someshwar beaches before May 31 this year. Discussions were also held about the objections raised by the forest department in respect of undertaking works like providing drinking water facility and repairs of the steps apart from laying a connecting road to reach Jamalabad fort in Beltangady. The deputy commissioner directed the officials to follow up with forest department and obtain their clearance at the earliest.

He also instructed the officials of tourism department to prepare guides containing exhaustive information about the tourism spots in the districts in Kannada and English, out of the grants available with the department. He said that this handbook should contain information about cultural richness of the district, tourism spots, information about officials, maps etc.

Assistant director, Mahesh, tourism department officials, officials of Nirmiti Kendra, and officials representing Pilikula Nisargadhama were present at the meeting.
