Bantwal, Mar 16: A youth was found knifed to death beside the Mangalore–Bangalore national highway 48 at Ramalakatte, under Bantwal rural police station here on Wednesday March 16.
The deceased is 21-year-old Badruddin, son of Hameed, a resident of Jarandagudde, near Brahmarakootlu.
Bantwal rural police arrested two people in connection with the murder that is believed to have taken place due to a love affair.
Badruddin was employed at a shop in Karkala town for some years, and had come to his native Jarandagudde on Tuesday and attended the annual Jatra at Kanapady, Brahmarakootlu, along with his friends.
Police sources said that Badruddin was seen with friends till 11.00 pm on Tuesday and suspect he was murdered elsewhere and the body dumped by the side of the highway.
SP Subramanyeshwar Rao, Puttur ASP Rohini, Bantwal circle inspector Nanjunde Gowda, and rural police sub-inspector Mohammed Rafiq Tahsildar visited the crime spot.
