Mangalore Mar 15: The pilgrimage Holy Cross to commemorate the post-centenary silver jubilee celebration of Mangalore diocese reached Our Lady of Mercy parish, Fajir, on Sunday March 14.
Fajir parish priest Fr Stany Pereira received the pilgrimage Holy Cross that was ceremoniously brought from the main road to Fajir church with the choir service by the parishioners of both Fajir and Eliyarpadav parishes.
The Holy Cross will be venerated at the Fajir church by the parishioners till Wednesday March 16 and will make its onward journey to St Thomas parish, Ammembal.
A prayer service was held at the church by Fr Stany Pereira along with a large gathering of parishioners.
Eliarpadav parish priest Fr Reginald Pinto, Fajir resident priest Fr Prakash Anil Castelino, Fajir parish council vice-president Victor Monteiro, secretary Felix Monteiro, religious nuns and members of ICYM, SVP, and YCS were present.
The pilgrimage Holy Cross was blessed by Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza at Rosario Cathedral on Sunday February 6 to commemorate the 125th jubilee celebrations of Mangalore diocese. The pilgrimage Holy Cross will be venerated in all 159 parishes of the diocese in a year.
Over 1,400 parishioners were present on the occasion.
