Udupi: International Yoga day observed in Milagres College, Kallianpur.

Udupi, Jun 22: International Yoga day was observed in Milagres College Kallianpur on Tuesday June 21. Hundreds of students gathered in the college quadrangle performed Yogasana under the guidance of Manjunath Pathkar, Yoga trainer of Sunaith International foundation.

Dr. Jayaram Shettigar, IQAC coordinator in his introductory words said that “MIlagres College was one of the pioneers to have yoga classes for the students. Yoga classes were held way back in the 90's in the college, way ahead of declaring this day as ``International Yoga Day”.

Dr. Vincent Alva, Principal in his message requested the students and faculty to practice simple yogasana’s everyday, it will keep us all fit and fine’ he opined.

Manjunath Pathkar, Yoga instructor on the occasion said “Yoga is a gift of our ancestors having a history of more than 2500 years. As records state it was taught and practiced in ancient Takshashila and Nalanda heritage Universities. Let us reap the best outcome by cultivating a daily habit of dedicating a few minutes every day, for our own good. This will help us to concentrate in studies, control our body and mind and fill the surroundings with positive energy” he said.

Grace Reshal Lewis, I BCA welcomed the gathering. Sahana, I BCom A, proposed a vote of thanks. Prof Sophia Dias, Anupama Jogi, NSS Officer, members of the teaching faculty, and non teaching staff were present. They also enthusiastically participated in the Yoga sessions.
