M'lore: Konkani Sahitya Academy Announces 5 Research Fellowships at Rs 1 Lac Each

Mangalore, Mar 14: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy announced five research fellowships here, recently.

The selection committee qualified Saver Santan Siddi from scheduled tribe to work on historical and cultural background of folklore and folksongs of Siddi community, Marcel M D’Souza from backward community for analysis on words that are used in Kannada and Konkani literary forms, Victor D’Silva on social science culture -  study on Gabit community of Uttara Kannada, Kevin Misquith on Konkani Christians music and literature and Vidya J Nayak from women wing on history of Konkani community and significance of cultural bonds in the art of Rangoli.

Kannada and culture department director Manu Baligar, Konkani expert Dr William Robert D’Silva, Academy registrar S H Shivarudrappa, Kannada and culture department assistant director Mangala Nayak were the members of selection committee of research fellowship.  Kannada and culture department joint director Ka Tha Chikkanna and convenor and Konkani Sahitya Academy president Narayan Karvi Kundapur were the chairpersons.  

The fellowship of Rs 1 lac for each research fellowship was approved as per the directives of Kannada and culture department and the duration for research study will be one year beginning from February 1 to January 31 2012, stated the media release issued by Konkani Sahitya Academy.
