Karkala: Police Officials, Achievers, Honoured

Karkala, Mar 14: A programme to honour police department officials for their achievement in detecting the idol stolen from Hiriangadi Basadi, and to hand over a generator that was donated to Mahavir Bhavan in memory of Vidyakumar Bunnu, was organized here on Sunday March 13.

South Canara District Cooperative Central Bank chairman, M N Rajendra Kumar, presided. D Harshendra Kumar from Dharmasthala, extended the honours. Chief whip of the opposition in the state assembly, K Abhayachandra Jain, handed over the generator. Nemiraj Ariga and Sunil Kumar Bajagoly were present.

Assistant superintendent of police, Santosh Kumar, circle inspector, Puttaswamy Gowda, sub-inspector of police, Pramod Kumar, sub-inspector of district crime intelligence bureau, B S Ravi, other police officials, and Master Suvidh Kumar Hiriangadi, who helped the police department, were felicitated on the occasion.

A cheque for Rs 50,000 was handed over to international Kabaddi player, Mamata, by Rajendra Kumar. Sanjay Dayanand Poojary, who has entered the Guinness Book of World of Records because of his achievement in carving miniature Ganesha on pencil tip, was also honoured. Later, uniforms were handed over to the children of Bhujabali Bramacharya Ashram.

Prof Gunapal Kadamba and Yogaraj Shastri compered the programme.
