Mangalore: Two-day Seminar “Abbakka Sankathana Begins at Varsity College

Mangalore, Mar 12: The programmes such as these will help understand the life and works of Rani Abbakka, the queen of Ullal, said Mangalore University vice chancellor Prof T C Shivashankar Murthy.

He was speaking after inaugurating the two-day seminar “Abbakka Sankathana” on Rani Abbakka at Ravindra Kalabhavan of University College here on Saturday March 12. He also expressed his willingness to set up a research centre at the university to extend help for conducting research on freedom fighters and national leaders from the region.

Dr Mukunda Prabhu, historian, presided. Mangalore City Corporation commissioner Dr K N Vijaya Prakash, Dr Gayathri Navada, syndicate member of Hampi University and Mangalore MLA U T Khader were present.

The seminar is jointly organized by the department of Kannada and Culture and the Ullala Veera Rani Abbakka Utsav Samiti.
