Kasargod, Mar 9: In a strange case of crude form of torture, a youth from Varapula Devoswom Tadu near Kanhangad suffered slicing of his penis in hands of unknown people. A stiff midrib of coconut leaf was also inserted into the urethra through the opening in the penis.

The youth, it is learnt, did not reveal what had happened to him for a week, because of fear of becoming object of mockery. After the wound became grievous and unbearable, his family members came to know what had happened. The youth, aged 26 years, was admitted into a hospital in Kanhangad in serious condition.

The youth had married three years back, and the couple do not have any offspring till now. His wife had gone to her parents’ home three months back, after which, the youth visited her there often. During one such recent visits, he was tortured in this way, but the youth is hesitant to say who had done this to him.

Last Sunday, he had visited his wife’s home in Perumbavoor, and upon calling him over phone four days thereafter, his brother learnt that he was suffering from high fever. He returned home after three more days. As he was seriously ill by then, the family members subjected him to tests. When questioned by the doctors, the youth said that he was unconscious when the injuries were inflicted on him, and that he does not know the identity of the people involved with this heinous act.
