Kundapur: Kabaddi – Railways Emerge National Champions

Kundapur, Mar 7: In the 58th annual national super league Kabaddi championship that was held at Byndoor in the taluk, railways bagged both the championships meant for the men and the women.

In the women’s finals, the railways team defeated Maharastra by 21-12. As a result, railways annexed the Mookabika Trophy. Mamata Poojary, a native of Karkala, played a stellar role in her team’s victory.

In the semi-finals, the railways extinguished the challenge of Himachal team by 32-16. Maharashtra team had defeated Haryana, 20-12.

In the men’s event, the railways team won over Rajasthan by a margin of 31-20. In the semi-finals, the railways team had overcome Delhi by 14-11, while Rajasthan had overtaken Maharashtra, 13-10.
