M’lore: Kinnigoli Church Friends Conduct Sohan-Arun Memorial Volleyball Tourney

Mangalore, Feb 28: In fond memory of two of the most loved youths Late Arun Fernandes and Late Sohan Quadros, the Church friends of Kinnigoli had organized a Volleyball tournament at Little flower school ground on Sunday February 27.

High standard court and organization were highlights of the event and presence of some eminent state and national level players and coaches added colour to the tourney.

13 Teams from all the corners of the twin districts fought for the coveted trophy which had a reward exceeding Rs 10,000 prize money.

Event was inaugurated by Fr Alban D’Souza, parish priest of Pakshikere, who has been a pillar of strength to the youth of the surroundings. Sr Gracy Monica of Little Flower School and national level player Aravavind B were present on the dais.



Family members of the late Arun - JK Fernandes, Santhan Fernandes and Nishan brother of the late Sohan too were present. Leo D'Souza from Kinnigoli, who is a well-wisher of church friends, Kinnigoli was honoured on the occasion

Wilson Kinnigoli compered and Eileen Crasta proposed the vote of thanks.

Church friends Kinnigoli and Sky Wings Mulki fought in the fiercely competitive final which was eventually won by Sky Wings Mulki. Fr Francis from SVD, JK Fernandes, and Nishan Quadras were present at the Valedictory function in the evening

Results:

1st place: Sky Wings Mulki
2nd place: Church Friends Kinnigoli
3rd place: Young Star, Karkala

Best disciplined team: Kirem Friends, Damaskatte
Best Lifter: Vinod, Church Friends Kinnigoli
Best Attacker: Princy, Sky Wings Mulki
