Mangalore, Feb 28: St Lawrence church, Bondel, celebrated Catechism Day on Sunday February 27.
Sunday catechism plays an important role in the children’s life. On June 13, 2010, the inauguration of the catechism classes took place. Over the year, about 21 catechism classes were held, and around four hundred children attended the classes. The wisdom of God was implored by 18 teachers tirelessly throughout the year. On February 20, the catechism examination was held. The top scorers and those who were regular in attending the classes were honoured during the Catechism Day.
Fr Joseph Lobo, designated director of St Joseph Engineering College, Fr Antony Serrao, and Fr Ronald Pinto, assistant parish priest, celebrated the holy Eucharist and guided the programme along with the vice president, Rudolf Pinto, and secretary Reginald D’Souza, after the mass.
After the stage programme, a variety entertainment programme based on the Bible, was presented by all the classes. All the Sunday catechism teachers were honoured by presenting a gift by the parish priest. The programme was well-compered by Vinita D’Souza. Around six hundred people enjoyed the programme. Refreshments were provided by Velankanni Enterprises, Kavoor. The Catechism Day proved to be successes because of the wholehearted support of all the teachers
