Kundapur: Train Passenger Robbed after Feeding Intoxicant

Kundapur, Feb 26: Gopal Poojary from Arehole in the taluk, who was coming home from Mumbai to take part in the christening ceremony of his child, was robbed of his valuables by a passenger on Thursday night, after feeding intoxicant to him.

Poojary, resident of Hosamane in Herikery, Arehole, who runs a hotel in Mumbai, had bought a ticket to Byndoor by Matsyagandha Express train from Mumbai, which started its journey at 2 pm on February 24. When the train reached Goa, a middle-aged person introduced himself to be from Udupi, and started chatting with Poojary. Later, he offered tea to Poojary. After having tea, Poojary slipped into deep sleep, when he was robbed of gold ornaments weighing 20 grams, cash amounting to Rs 4,000, and a mobile phone.

One of the rings worn by him, as well as things and a gold chain for the child that were kept in the suitcase, were untouched. A complaint in this connection has been filed with the Byndoor police station and the railway police.
