Mangalore, Feb 25: After a gang vandalized a garage and a shop located at Kottara Chowki in the city on Thursday February 24, a complaint was filed in Urwa police station. The complaint filed by the garage owner, Nelson D’Souza, has named Bajrang Dal convener, Sharan Pumpwell and 12 others as perpetrators of trouble. It has also been alleged that about a lac of rupees were robbed from the garage in this incident.
The policemen said that the incident was connected with the dismissal of Sunil Salian, who was working in the said garage, on Wednesday. Salian reportedly is a Bajrang Dal activist. Angered by Salian’s dismissal, Sharan Pumpwell reportedly came with several others, armed with swords, iron rods and wickets, to the garage on Thursday, and destroyed items there. It has been alleged that Nelson was beaten up, and a lac of rupees kept in the table drawer, was robbed.
In a counter complaint filed against Nelson, it has been alleged that a few friends of Sunil Salian had approached the garage to enquire about the garage owner’s rude behaviour in abusing Sunil Salian, when he came to work in the garage on Wednesday. It is also said that when these people were returning after questioning, some persons from the garage approached them from behind, and assaulted Anil from Kalayibettu, Bikarnakatte.
While Nelson has got admitted into a private hospital here, Anil has been admitted into Wenlock Hospital. Murder attempt and robbery cases have been registered in Urwa police station in this connection.
