Mangalore, Feb 25: Dakshina Kannada district health and family welfare officer, Dr O Srirangappa, has requested the people to administer polio drops to all the children up to the age of five years, on Sunday February 27. On that day, polio drops will be administered under the national level ‘Pulse Polio’ programme aimed at eradicating polio from the country, he added.
While requesting the parents to bring their children to the polio booths this Sunday itself, he said that as per estimates, the district has 1,70,721 children aged below five, and that out of them, 1,432 are children of migrant labourers. He explained that 921 polio booths and 20 transit polio drops units have been formed, and 3,684 people for administering the drops, and 184 supervisors, are being pressed into service for ensuring the success of the programme.
