Mangalore, Feb 24: In an effort to bring to fore the talents of students in various mind skills and cultural activities, Centre for Integrated Learning (CIL) in association with Sri Ramakrishna School will organize CIL Fest 2011at Sri Ramakrishna School, Bunts Hostel in the city on February 26 and 27. As many as eleven competitions have been lined up for the two-day event.
The inter-school event shall comprise of an array of contests, skill development activities and a lot of fun. Organised is exclusively by the students of CIL Parallel School, the students wings of CIL – Students Action Movement (SAM) and Creating Resource to Empower Society Today (CREST), which makes the fest unique. The association of Navaras, Hobby Dancers’ Club adds colours to the festivities.
Competitions include Just A Minute (JAM), What’s The Good Word, Quiz, Debate, Tom Dick or Harry, Dumb Charades, Essay, Poster Making, Spell It and folk dance.
To mark the National Science Day, CIL Science Expo 2011, Science Model exhibition cum Contest will also be eld as part of the fest.
Some of the contests are normally conducted at the college level, now being tried at the high school level. Spell It, a contest to test the spelling skills in English language is one of the events that is conducted only at CIL Fest which is being held for the second consecutive year.
The event is expected to be participated by over 20 schools from in and around Mangalore, according to Sachitha Nandagopal, Executive Director of CIL.
CIL Fest 2011 will be inaugurated by Dr. Phyllis Maria D’Costa, Retired Professor and Head of Department of English at Roshni Nilaya School of Social Work, Mangalore. The valedictory function will be graced by Dr. M S Moodithaya, Director, Justice K S Hegde Institute of Management, Nitte and presided over by Mr. Sundar Shetty, Secretary of Buntara Sangha and Correspondent of Sri Ramakrishna School.
