Udupi, Feb 22: A person, who had reportedly visited the town for paying obeisance to Lord Srikrishna, committed suicide by consuming poison at Bhavani Lodge, Shiribeedu here, on Sunday February 20. He has been identified as Ramesh, aged between 35 and 40 years, who had given his address as KGF-Kolar, while checking into the lodge on Saturday.

The lodge employees observed that room No.302, which was allotted to Ramesh, remained locked through out the day, and television and fan were functioning continuously. The inmate of the room did not respond to knocks on the door. They then conveyed the information to the policemen, who found Ramesh lying lifeless on the room bed. A thick, whitish liquid was found on the teapoy and glass on the table, indicating that Ramesh had consumed poison.

On a complaint filed by Gururaj Shetty of the hotel, the local policemen have registered a case.
