Mumbai, May 7 (IANS): Writer Raaj Shandilya, who penned the story of the Nushratt Bharucha starrer 'Janhit Mein Jaari', says more than changing people's mindset, the makers intend to express their view on the taboo around condoms and the importance of birth control.
The cast and the crew including Nushratt, Anud Singh Dhaka, Paritosh Tripathi, Raaj Shaandilyaa was present at the trailer launch of the film on Friday in Mumbai.
Considering the fact that the film is set in a small town and tells the story of a female condom salesgirl, the question arises of the majority of the audience from the small town will come to the theatre to watch the film.
To answer the question, Raaj said: " Honestly we do not intend to change people's thoughts through one film. Unless an individual decides to change his or her mind a film cannot do that, but a film is a powerful tool of mass entertainment. Our film is a mass entertainer. Through the film we are trying to express our view on the matter, the taboo attached to condoms, and why people invest money on wedding plans and not family plans.
"I do not think we can change people's minds. You see even though on the pack of cigarettes it is mentioned that 'smoking is injurious to health', people smoke! But we will make sure when people watch a film, a campaign, they get to know a perspective of the issue that is addressed in the film."
Produced by Vinod Bhanushali directed by Jai Basantu Singh, 'Janhit Mein Jaari' also features Vijay Raaz among others. It will release in theatres on June 10.
