Panaji: Police arrest 3 for theft at Calangute

Panaji, May 6: The Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn) of Goa police nabbed three persons in different cases of theft at Calangute beach.

The police said that the motive of the robbers on the beach is to target tourists who usually keep their bags, mobiles and other valuables on the shore and proceed to bathe in the sea.

"Our head constable and police constable along with a police sub inspector apprehended three suspects who were caught red-handed following continuous foot and vehicle patrolling on the beaches. Total stolen property worth Rs 5,000 was recovered from the accused," a senior police officer said.

IRBn personnel recovered mobiles and wallets from the robbers who were stealing bags of tourists. The phones and wallets recovered from the robbers were handed over to the tourists.
