Bangalore, Feb 16: The five independent legislators, who received an unfavourable judgment from the state High Court relating to their disqualification by the assembly speaker, met JDS national president, H D Deve Gowda, on Tuesday February 15, and held consultations with him about their future course of action.
P M Narendra Swamy, Shivaraj Tangadagi, Gulihatti Shekhar, Venkataramanappa, and D Sudhakar, who are worried about the fallout of the High Court verdict that has upheld their disqualification, and the repercussions it can have on their future, were closeted with the former Prime Minister for some time.
It is reported that Deve Gowda encouraged them by saying that they still have the option of approaching the apex court, and asked them not to worry. Sources said that the legislators were told to hold consultations with legal experts once full text of the judgment is received, and to approach the Supreme Court against the judgment.
Narendra Swamy said that they were preparing to file an appeal in the Supreme Court on Thursday, as Wednesday happens to be a court holiday. Before meeting Deve Gowda, the legislators also talked to former Chief Minister, H D Kumaraswamy.
