Mangaluru Apr 24: "Mangaluru has a very special recognition all over the country and this should be maintained throughout by maintaining peace and harmony," said Dr N Vinaya Hegde, chancellor, Nitte Institutes.
He was speaking at the Ifthar get-together on Saturday, April 23 at Yenapoya School soccer ground, Jeppinamogaru.
"Any individual who achieves greater heights needs to be a good human being. There is a need to maintain peace and harmony," said N Vinaya Hegde.
Bishop of Mangalore diocese, Dr Peter Paul Saldanha briefed about the importance of fasting in Christianity while chancellor of Yenapoya institutes, Yenapoya Abdulla Kunjhi also spoke about the importance of the same during Ramzan and the human values of the Quran and the prophet.
Yenapoya Islamic research centre director Dr Javed Jamil was also present.
Abdul Razaq Ananthady compered the event.
