Mangaluru, Apr 23: The ‘One Station, One Product’ scheme that was announced in the union budget for 2022-23 has given a new lease of life for the local artisans.
In total, 19 train stations of Palghat section of Southern railway are selected for this scheme. The scheme provides market for local produce.
This scheme was started at Tirupati railway station for the first time and later implemented in Krantiveera Sangoli Rayanna railway station and Mysuru railway stations. Now both the Central and Junction railways stations of Mangaluru are selected for this scheme.
The artisans can sell their product on the platform as well as inside the campus of the railway station. They have to pay Rs 500 as fee for their shops or space occupied.
Southern railway officials informed that every train station will make propaganda of one product and selling point under Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan.
The 19 railway stations of Palghat section that are included in the scheme are Mangaluru Junction, Mangaluru Central, Pollachi, Palghat Junction, Ottupalam, Shoranur Junction, Angadipuram, Nilambur Road, Tirur, Kozhikode, Quilandi, Badagar, Mahe, Talechery, Kannur, Payyanur, Nileshwar, Kanhangad and Kasargod.
