Siddu and 3 Others get Notice in Assembly Ruckus Issue

Bangalore, Feb 8 (DC): A five-member House committee headed by BJP legislator, Srikant S. Kulkarni, on Monday issued show-cause notices to four legislators including leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Siddaramiah and Congress senior legislator, Dinesh Gundurao asking them to appear before the Committee on February 19.

The Committee was constituted to probe the ruckus created by Opposition and ruling party members on July 9 last year in the Legislative Assembly. Speaking to media, Mr Kulkarni said that he along with another committee member and Moodigere BJP legislator, M.P. Kumarswamy, reviewed the various video tapes provided by media organisations as well as CCTV camera footage.

According to him, the Congress in its complaint, had requested the Speaker to consider video tapes provided by the news channels as prime evidence to prove their allegations against ruling party members. “The Opposition members had alleged that the ruling party members had threatened them inside the Assembly. The ruling party legislators on the other hand, maintained in their complaint that they had received life threats from the Opposition members,” he explained.

According to Mr Kulkarni, the ruling party had named four legislators including Mr Siddaramaiah, Dinesh Gundurao, A. Manju and M.B. Patil in its compliant. They were issued notices on Monday to give them an opportunity to present their view before the committee.

Mr Kulkarni said, “There is no need to issue notices to the Reddy brothers and other ruling party legislators who have been named by the Opposition as the latter wanted us to look into the video tapes furnished by the media.”
