Udupi/Mangaluru, Apr 17: Large crowds were noticed right from Friday at religious centres and tourist attractions of twin cities.
Due to four days of continuous holidays on account of Dr Ambedkar Jayanthi, Good Friday, Third Saturday and Sunday people ventured out for leisure.
Huge crowds were noticed in eminent religious places like Udupi Sri Krishna Math, Kollur Sri Mookambika temple, Ucchila Sri Mahalaxmi temple, Kumashi Anegudde temple, Sri Subramanya temple, Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala and Sri Kateel Kshethra.
After visiting temples, people thronged beaches at Malpe, Maravanthe, Kaup, Sasihitlu, Panambur etc. There was a possibility of crowds getting swelled on Saturday and Sunday which came true.
Many devotees visited Kukke Subrahmanya temple on Friday due to serial holidays and Visu chariot fair. Vishu fair is on at Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala from April 13. The chariot fair will take place on April 24.
The Malpe beach was heavily crowded from Thursday itself. Right from early morning, tourists were thronging the beach. Vehicles were parked up to Hanuman Nagar on the south of the beach. Police had a tough time manning the traffic.
