Mangalore: KPCC Disapproves DCC Appointments – Seeks Fresh List

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Feb 4: The Dakshina Kannada district Congress committee (DCC) formed by the committee president, B Ramanath Rai, has been disapproved by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). Through a press release issued on January 24 this year, Rai had released a list of two vice-presidents, five general secretaries, eight secretaries and 20 members, who were appointed to the DCC.

There was resentment in some quarters of the Congress party here, about releasing the list without getting the approval of KPCC. Through a letter addressed to DCC president on February 1, KPCC general secretary, Prakash K Rathod, has asked him to draw a new list of office bearers, duly following the guidelines issued by the party.

In the letter, Rathod has said that KPCC has noted the fact that a list of office bearers appointed to the DCC was released by the DCC president to the press. He has pointed out that publishing these appointments without obtaining the concurrence of KPCC makes the list invalid, as per the constitution of the party. He also has drawn the attention of the DCC president to the condition that 15 percent representation has to be given to unique groups which have not got any representation in the DCC, while appointing members to it. He has asked the DCC president to prepare a new list as per guidelines, sent it to KPCC, and publish after obtaining concurrence from the state body.

The general secretary has also mentioned that he has been directed by the KPCC president to write this letter, duly asking the DCC president to draw a fresh list of members and send the same for approval to KPCC.
