Mangaluru: Hackathon held at Srinivas Institute of Technology

Mangaluru, Apr 11: C# Hackathon, a coding event for engineering students by IT mentorship platform Skillhouse was successfully conducted at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil on Friday morning. More than 50 students from various engineering colleges around the city actively participated in the hackathon which was organized in association with ASCEE and SIT. Principal of SIT, Dr Shrinivasa Mayya D, was the chief guest of the programme.

Addressing the students, he stressed the importance of understanding the skill-based requirements of the IT industry and staying up-to-date on the current trends. He went on to encourage all students to participate in more such hackathons to solve real-world problems and be industry-ready. He concluded by appreciating platforms like Skillhouse for bridging the gap between the industry and educational institutes.

Skillhouse CEO Vinod Kumar thanked the students for participating in the hackathon in large numbers and also showed his gratitude to the Principal and faculty of SIT for providing them with the opportunity to host such an event.

Talking about Skillhouse, he explained that the platform provides mentorship-based training programs in different skills required by the IT industry. Walking through the success stories of students who have been trained at Skillhouse and landed jobs at reputed IT firms, Kumar elaborated on the importance of understanding concepts and applying them, over merely studying the theory. Following this, Skillhouse CTO Naveen Bhat walked through the current trends in the IT industry and informed students about opportunities available and how to make use of it. He encouraged students to think outside of the syllabus and solve real-world problems using technology. He also mentioned that with the help of technology, one could give life to ideas and set up their own startup.

Bringing the event to a close, CS Department HOD Ravishankara K thanked the principal of SIT, Skillhouse founders and mentors for creating a positive environment by conducting and hosting such an event and went on to thank the students for their wholehearted participation.
